PostHeaderIcon What To Look For In An NLP And Hypnotherapy Trainer

NLP and Hypnotherapy are fast growing must-have skills these days. However, in a market where practically anyone can call themselves a practitioner, how do you know that the company or individual training you, is professionally qualified and skilled in the area of expertise. Do you know how to tell the difference between Joe Bloggs off the street who’s spent a few hours reading books on the subject in comparison to the major trainers who have really invested their time and knowledge in the stuff?

I work for a company called People Building, who provide NLP and Hypnotherapy training in London, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I would like to share with you the experience I had when looking for an NLP and Hypnotherapy Trainer.

When I decided that I wanted to do the training course, I began my search for a trainer, as many people do, on the internet. I didn’t realise quite how many NLP and Hypnotherapy Trainers there were out there! Even just throughout Herts, Beds, Bucks and London, the Google pages were littered. My main priorities at the time were to find a training course that offered both NLP and Hypnotherapy within the one course, that fitted in with my budget, that were fairly local to me in Hertfordshire. It turned out that a very popular ex stage hypnotist had teamed up with one of the significant figures of NLP and was running a course in London. However, to do both the NLP and Hypnotherapy training course was almost double the money I had available. Later, a friend I had met at a Tony Robbins event, said that they had done the NLP training course with that particular company, and that the group sizes were enormous. This meant that if someone felt confused or unsure at any point, it was difficult for them to put up their hand and ask questions. They also said that the training course had taught “mainly the unconscious mind.” Which meant that they had learnt everything they needed to know, they just didn’t know that they knew it. I eventually found a training course, but it was very far from home. It turned out to be quite an adventure and I met many new friends. My only complaint was that I felt I had only been given the tip of the iceberg, I came away wanting more, much, much more. And the more fellow NLPer’s I met, the more than me, they seemed to know. I ended up re-doing my NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner trainings (so I paid twice as much as I’d wanted to after all!)

Now I’m qualified as a Trainer myself, and I run an NLP and Hypnotherapy Training school that provides training courses throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London. Obviously, my style isn’t for everyone, not everybody will like me, but I thought that what would be useful for everyone, is for my website to be a useful resource for anyone who is planning on doing NLP or Hypnotherapy training courses. That’s why I have included on there all of our course contents, what to look for in a trainer, and what to look for in a training course. So to whet your appetite, here are a few tips, but please visit our website for more.

PostHeaderIcon What Is The Difference Between Hypnotherapy And Hypnosis?

What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy? The difference is that hypnosis is a natural state of mind. When you’re under hypnosis, you feel relaxed. It’s a lot like that wonderful feeling of high that you feel when you’re lying in your bed after a long day’s work. You feel so overcome with comfort that you just want that moment to e able to last forever.

Through some simple relaxation techniques, you can attain that same state. With the assistance of a trained hypnotherapist, you can get back into that state of well being and reach goals such as weight loss, quitting smoking and realizing a happier life.

Hypnotherapy is also known as self-hypnosis. This can be a very powerful and effective tool to help yourself change and experience a higher quality of life. You can begin to ask yourself certain questions such as;

1. What do I want my life to be like 1 , 2 or 3 years from now? Make sure you are detailed and honest with your answers here. You don’t need to be reasonable, its about what you really want!

2. What changes do I need to make in order for this to come about? Again, logic is not your friend here. Be creative, be outrageous, and have fun. What changes do you think you’ll have to do in your way of thinking?

3. Could anything negative come about from making these changes? Can you think of any drawbacks from making these changes?

4. How much do I really want the things I want? This may make you realize that some things you thought you wanted, you really don’t want, but instead you may want something different.

Try to spend a few hours or even the rest of the day thinking about these questions. When people are anxious or stressed, they often think about negative things all day long. So why not begin to also give those things you want in your life more room to think about. This is a much deeper way of thinking and this is the level at which hypnotherapy has shown to have proven results.

Some people may claim that they have never been hypnotized or that they cannot be hypnotized. These people may not fully understand what hypnosis is all about. Just about everyone has drifted off while being in a class room. Just about everyone has daydreamed or drifted while driving somewhere and forgot where they were driving to. And just about everyone has gone somewhere else while being absorbed in reading a book. These are all perfect examples of hypnosis. The great thing about hypnosis is that with a trained professional, it will not produce any damaging side effects and can help provide positive changes.

What is involved in hypnotherapy? There is a two step process that goes on between the client and the therapist or professional. A person cannot be hypnotized against their own will. That means he or she has to agree to cooperate. While being hypnotized, nobody can make you do anything that you don’t want to do. Even people on TV or in movies that are barking like dogs, or hopping on one foot pretending to be Napoleon are doing it because they want to do it. They have chosen to participate in that hypnosis. Also, those people on TV are doing something that is called “stage hypnosis”. This type of hypnosis is very different from clinical hypnosis.

The first phase of hypnotherapy involves a consultation. In the consultation you’ll probably answer some questions that are posed by your therapist. They are to establish the nature of your problems and issues. They will also help the therapist to craft a plan to deal and work through them. The next step is hypnosis. This can be done in a variety of ways. Most likely, you’ll be gently lead by your therapist voice into a state where your entire body and mind become deeply relaxed. You’ll be so deeply relaxed as to almost be asleep. To someone looking on, you may seem as if you’re totally asleep, but in fact you will be awake although very relaxed. In addition, the parts of your mind that your therapist will be working with will also be awake and listening. It will feel much like a daydream. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, you have the option terminating the session. Remember, the hypontherapists job is to help you.

PostHeaderIcon Life Between Lives – Hypnotherapy For Your Soul

Do you ever wonder who you really are?

Why are you here on Earth, and what is your purpose?

Where do you come from and where are you headed?

Do you ever wonder if there is life after life?

What happens when we die?

Is there anything, or they just turn out the light?

What if you discovered that it is possible to answer life’s eternal questions today, and in one sitting you could get responses to your fundamental inquiries from seemingly out of nowhere, from the eternal Universe.

What if you could suddenly “know” and “perceive a clear direction in your life, or a confirmation of your direction already taken. What if you could hear the guidance in words and messages, see the pictures from your future, feel the heavenly ecstasy of peace in the midst of everyday worries, perceive unconditional love and experience a clear sense of well-being?

Would you want such experience?

In this time of change we may find ourselves in a dire need of changing at least something in our lives. Perhaps, as simple as a thought of a change to feeling better about ourselves and about our situations, or as radical as a change of location, relationship, job, belief system, or eliminating fear. Any of those can create a feeling of resistance in knowing about change, and even fear, collapsing our will to change.

Fear drives many of us to perpetuate the ways we already prepared for ourselves in our life. Even if drowning in a swampy mud of present life in an unsightly metaphorical picture of your future, changing it and taking faith in moving to a dry piece of land with a bright sunshine “somewhere over the rainbow” for many of us is an impossible task to undertake.

In this case the action we think of taking is – NO ACTION.

As we all know well enough, no active action leads to leaving things like they are, wait and “see what happens”. Instead of taking the initiative to move on, many stay in a painful situation of uninvolved or abusive relationships, unloved jobs, and unhealthy diets, finding many reasons for themselves in saying “there is no other way for me”.

A client named Sandy (changed name) recently complained that loud noises in her apartment form her neighbors are unbearable. She tried reasoning with the person, appealed to the landlord, authorities, and all to no avail. She hit the wall in her situation, crying “I cannot even move out, I am flat broke, and I can’t stand that noise!”

She was desperate finding this last resort Hypnotherapy. Instead of common regressions, or even past life regressions, she braved to try the spiritual regression of Life Between Lives soul and spirit integration.

Sandy was able to gain a different perspective on her situation and find resolution to her quest. How? You would ask.

She found out that she made some decisions in her past that created her present situation, so there is no one to blame, and that she can reframe her attitude and make another decision going forward. She found the spiritual guidance leading her to the highest judgment and discovered that she was loved and was never judged, as judgment was a human concept created for instilling fear in children and adults in order to follow the rules.

She breathed out the negative reflection on her past, and allowed herself to look into the future filled with hope. She found it is possible for her to open up to accepting others as they are, and possibly even accepting herself as she is. After divine relaxed energy which creatively showered on her, cleansing and spiritually re-patterning, she re-gained confidence in herself and made necessary adjustments, finding peace. You are beginning to feel curious how she achieve all this, aren’t you?

In her spiritual regression, guided by her hypnotherapist, she continuously integrated the process of discovery and new directions into her present situations, thus creating the healing and promoting description for her healthy active steps in the next few days, months to come. Positive suggestions were then given to her to be able to continue to integrate the process in the time after the session.

BENEFITS

What if you could productively use the knowledge received from your eternal super-soul, integrate it into your life, begin projects, learn things that you always wanted. What if the benefits of this Life Between Lives process did not end here, and went on to more benefits:

• Releasing ALL fears

• releasing a fear of death

• Re-gaining a sense of inner peace

• Restoring relationship with your soul

• Getting clarity about your life’s purpose

Imagine discovering ways to:

• Make your decisions in such way so you never regret them

• Know your path

• Feel better about yourself

• Be sure that you are doing the right thing

• Become more confident

And therefore, learn the tools to

• Create the life that you desire

• And finally feel fulfilled

You uncover answers to many of your questions, for example the fundamental ones:

• Who you really are

• Who your soul mate is

• What you are doing here on earth now

• What your higher guidance is

• How to begin to receive clear messages and continue to communicate with your guidance

• How to stay youthful and re-juvenate when you need to.

The ultimate clear and beneficial results of this metaphoric approach to healing are that you open up to the possibilities rather than limitations. This leads to being open to embracing the idea of having:

• A happy life

• A great relationship

• Life fulfilling work

• Re-gaining a powerful feeling of self-confidence

• Love in your life

• Finding joy in your life

History of Life Between Lives

Consider this:

Your Soul is eternal, it is an eternal imprint of you in the Universe.

What does it look like?

It may be a benevolent light, a ball of energy of any color, with your highest purpose in mind, your guidance to make the right choices, fulfill you purpose. Take a leap of faith. Life Between Lives is an exploration of our eternal soul’s life between incarnations. As if the life on Earth is a job we go to fulfill and come back HOME after physical death.

So WHERE IS HOME? What do we do there? How do we learn? How do we decide on what body to pick for the next life, or how do we recognize our Soul Mate? How do we prepare for the next life and what is the process for learning and assessing the previous life?

If you accept a concept of mind travel, day-dreaming, past lives and reincarnation, why not leap to a possibility of looking into what happens in eternity, between incarnations?

Many authors had written volumes on study cases of those spontaneously remembering a past incarnation, a life in the past, sometimes accurately naming events, relationships and recognizing the energy of people with whom they met in the current life.

The idea of past lives in not new any more than the idea of religion, and in fact as old as humanity itself. But only relatively recently, sociologists, scientists and therapists began to view Past Lives as a healing process in mental relief of unhealthy symptoms caused by accumulating tension, leading to diseases, in a human body. Dr. Brian Weiss in his book Many Lives Many Masters, pioneered case studies and descriptions about relieving symptoms of long term discomfort and disease of his patients, which led to his personal transformation. As a traditional psychotherapist, a graduate of Yale University, he never previously believed in reincarnation, leave alone any work with such an idea as means of healing symptoms in a human body. Upon discovery through spontaneous regressions in one of his patient’s cases, he began his research and concluded that our consciousness has a memory that is longer that the length of our physical life. Subsequent to this idea, he developed an idea of past lives, future lives and a time between incarnation where a soul works toward attaining the necessary knowledge to continue with successful progression of its incarnations.

Since then under a supervision and guidance of trained hypnotherapists thousands of hypnotherapy clients accessed information on what we do when we GO HOME. Hypnotherapy had proven to be an effective tool to uncover our soul’s journeys reincarnating in various times and countries, allowing for clients in hypnosis to safely learn their “karmic lessons” and healing and releasing the negative influences, preconceived notions, accepting learning and new perspectives on their own life. Past lives healing process became a main stream tool for self-discovery of the path to release past hurts, negative patterns and reframing self-perceptions toward positive change.

The process of reincarnation and time in between reincarnations was deepened in an independent research by another psychotherapist, Dr. Michael Newton, also a clinical hypnotherapist. Over the last thirty plus years Dr. Newton further developed the process and called it a Life Between Lives spiritual integration. He repeatedly hypnotized thousands of his clients into a higher state of self discovery, into a Soul State, from which his clients independently of each other reported very similar to each other information. Through a series of sequent open-ended questions, comparison and thorough research, Dr. Newton had documented thousands of client cases and studies in his books “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”. He found consistency in the information reported by clients in spiritual regressions, which allowed him to learn about the structure, nature and functions of the process. He outlined:

• souls categories

• the spirit world in general

• variations in personal soul’s groups

• primary/secondary soul mates

• guides, councils and teachers

Followed with the descriptions of the processes of

• soul rejuvenation exercises

• time spending habits during soul recreation

• principles of our soul learning

• soul specialization, interests and work

• next life and body selection

• the integration of soul’s important influential past lifetimes

• integration of higher consciousness into the current life of the client, creating the benefits for healthy existence on Earth

It is only natural to graduate with one’s curiosity toward personal description of spirit world in Life Between Life, journey of spiritual integration for the Soul, from the process of discovery in our past lives.

Today it is also a well known process, acclaimed and widely used in self-discovery and healing. In a professional environment guided by a certified experienced hypnotherapist, you will be assisted in achieving highly pleasant, emotionally aware state, a state of relaxed awareness, energy, flow, lightness, a state of higher purpose, self discovery, where it becomes possible to receive the wisdoms of inner Soul, Guides, and Counsel.

PROCESS OF DISCOVERY

In a private setting of a professional hypnotherapy office, bringing a list of your questions and issues, you are safely guided to achieve a state of relaxed focus leading into a interactive discovery state.

PostHeaderIcon Therapy For Therapists

Have you ever had a problem that seemed so stuck and so complicated that you just couldn’t get it straight in your mind? And the more you tried to make sense of it, the more complicated it seemed to get. We’ve all had a problem like that before, and it’s good to know that there are people in the world who make it their business to help others solve problems.

But what happens when the person who is supposed to solve the problems is also confused by the problem? Who helps then?

It’s useful to know that there is a wealth of resources to be had for those who make it their business to help others. At People Building, we have walked in all of those pairs of shoes. We have been that person with a problem, and know how that feels, that urgency to fee open one’s own mind. We have been the therapists helping the client with their problem, and we have even been the therapist who has once in a while listened to a client and thought “heck, what do I do here?” It’s great to be challenged in this way because we accept that no one person has access to all of the possible answers, and accepting this only drives us to discover the answers we haven’t yet got.

Now, we are established as a support network for therapists also. Every week we receive inquiries such as therapists requesting Hypnosis scripts for problems they are unsure of how to tackle, or parents who are interested in our NLP for children programmes, wondering what small steps they can take to encourage their children. And unlike other popular training organisations we do one significant thing differently to other training companies that I approached when I was a therapist, feeling **** about a problem. The most meaningful thing that they do, is that they reply. And when they reply, they will point you in the best direction they know and offer the best suggestions they have. This in itself is unique- that a training company that is busy conducting NLP and hypnotherapy training courses reply to a message for help, let alone that they will help anyone in any way they can, even if that person has never actually trained with them- even if you have trained with a competitor training company.

However, before you go ahead and call or email them, the best point of reference is their website. Here you will find Hypnosis scripts for hypnotherapists, hypnotherapy audio mp3’s and e-books to help you write your own hypnosis scripts, e-book of collections of hypnotherapy scripts and e-books to help quit smoking, improve confidence and relationships. There are also many other resources contained on the site, such as quizzes and personality tests which you might like to try out for yourself or refer you clients to so that they can discover more information about themselves and how their mind operates.

They frequently publish a free hypnosis script in their free fortnightly newsletter, which also contains hint and tips on NLP based techniques that you might like to try out with your clients.

PostHeaderIcon Hypnotherapy And Nlp: Unscrambling The Link

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnotherapy are very closely related and could be considered to come from the same ‘family’ of therapeutic approaches. In fact, if you are considering having hypnotherapy and are currently searching for a therapist, you will probably find that many hypnotherapists now-days, practice NLP to some level and conversely that most NLP practitioners who have completed certified training courses, will also be familiar with using hypnotic techniques during therapy sessions.

How are these therapies similar?

Hypnotherapy utilises hypnotic techniques in order to bring about therapeutic change. Hypnotherapy enables a person to solve personal problems by bringing about a deeply relaxing state of mind. When the person is deeply relaxed this allows the unconscious part of the mind to use its resources to find solutions. It also allows the person to focus their attention completely on the therapists voice in order to follow the positive suggestions and guidance the therapist is making. In hypnotherapy this relaxed state is called trance. All people experience trance states on a daily basis. Trance simply refers to the experience of being really relaxed. It also involves focusing your attention so that it is highly selective. Reading a really good book and being completely absorbed in it, is an example.

Have you had the experience of being totally immersed in the characters of the book, being able to vividly imagine what they are like, whilst at the same time being able to ignore other noises and distractions going on around you? If so, you have experienced trance. Using your imagination and day-dreaming are other examples. Any time that you ‘go inside’ your own head you are in a light trance. If you’ve ever had the experience of having a problem that is constantly with you, so that it feels like all you have or all you are, is this problem, then you will know what it is like to experience a bad trance.

Richard Bandler (a computer scientist) and John Grinder (an associate professor in linguistics) developed NLP in the 1970’s. NLP was created after they spent time studying and modelling therapists who were considered to be extremely effective at getting good results. One of these therapists, was the Psychiatrist Milton Erickson. He was also an extremely talented hypnotherapist. Erikson’s style of indirect hypnotic suggestion and skilled use of ambigous and vague language patterns, has become known as Ericksonian hypnosis. Since NLP was developed after modelling Erickson, many NLP techniques involve Ericksonian hypnotic approaches. Like more traditional hypnotherapy, NLP works with the unconscious part of the mind in order to find solutions to problems. NLP therapists are also trained in using Milton Model language patterns in order to induce light trance states in clients. This is very useful at getting a problem moving when a person is stuck in a bad trance. Other hypnotic techniques that are common to NLP include metaphorical story telling and utilising the client’s imagination in order to bring about a highly focused state of attention during change techniques – a trance state.

How do NLP and Hypnotherapy Differ

You will find that they are more similar then they are different. During hypnotherapy you are much more likely to be seated in a comfy chair, perhaps reclining with your eyes closed! During NLP you often get more involved with the techniques on a practical level, so you may be standing, or be required to do or say certain things related to overcoming your problem. You may still get to close you eyes and you will certainly get to use your imagination. NLP techniques utilise hypnotic elements but usually in a more subtle way, the NLP therapist will empower you to draw on resources you already have in order to bring about new options in thinking.

When you see an NLP therapist you will find they often use more traditional hypnotherapy techniques as well. At the end of your NLP session, after all the hard work, you will often get to recline back in your chair and experience relaxation so that you leave the therapists office feeling positive and ready to go on with your day.

Karen offers NLP and hypnotherapy, Herts and is trained to master practitioner level. Karen is trained to use Milton Model hypnotic techniques during NLP and Hypnotherapy, Herts.
