Losing weight by hypnosis is now a pretty common thing to do. Hypnosis has long been recognized as a scientifically proven method of helping you to achieve your goals in all kinds of ways – it’s long been considered one of the best ways to quit smoking, for example. In recent years an increasing number of people have turned to hypnosis for other help as well – and they’ve found that this is a great way to lose weight and, most importantly, to make sure that the weight stays off.

As this method of weight loss has grown in popularity a lot of the popular media has picked up on its great effects. Weight problems are a matter of great concern for us as a nation after all. So, it’s no great surprise to see hypnotherapy regularly mentioned on TV as a tried and tested solution for sustained weight loss.

Recently, for example, Dateline NBC followed 6 people who were due to attend their high school reunion. It was their 25th anniversary and they had 10 months to achieve their goals – each of them had to want to lose a set minimum amount of weight and they all had to be willing to try a different method of weight loss. This was designed to show just how well (or badly!) each weight loss solution might work.

So, each member of the group was given the option of choosing a different weight loss route to follow. These included Weight Watchers, extreme exercise, the Atkins diet, Slim Fast, the Jorge Cruise weight-loss program and – of course – hypnotism.

Now, it’s easy for us to claim that hypnosis will help you lose weight and maintain weight loss. We know that this kind of program will help you simply because it helps you re-program the way you think about food so you can modify your eating habits with no real effort. All you need is the real desire to lose weight.

But, to reinforce this the NBC show threw up some interesting results. The guy who opted to take on the hypnosis method was placed first at the three month point and second at the five month point with a weight loss of 39lbs. Second place not sound so good? Well, the first place here went to the Atkins dieter – and, as with any extreme diet, there is a risk here of health problems and a very real chance of re-gaining weight again as soon as you stop the diet and start regular eating again.

The fact is that hypnosis gives you a cure for life – it can change the way you view food and the reasons why you eat it. And, it can reinforce the work it does here with a positive attitude towards exercise and living a healthy life. So, it’s far easier to lose weight as you will be actively working towards maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle on a subconscious level. And, this doesn’t stop in the way that a diet does as once you re-program the way you think it stays with you.

As a side issue, the wife of the guy who took on hypnosis was so impressed by the way it worked that she signed up for sessions to quit smoking as she could see how well it worked for him. And, it worked great for her too…..

It should not be a surprise to some people that their New years Resolutions came up short in 2009. After all, their hearts were in the right place, however, temptation is the arch enemy. Some people may have also told friends and loved ones  what their goals are. They are said with confidence and pride, for example, “ I am going to lose weight”, however sadly for most, slowly in time, those goals become mere wishes, then eventually nothing. The goals simply just die and in its place is almost as follows, “I tried that, but it didn’t work for me.”

This is the same scenario that has been played out for maybe as long as 2000 years. This is not a fad by any means, and those who fall short on their goals, feels defeated, cheated by their own demons that resurface without even as much as a warning.  At least on T.V. and in the movies, when one is watching something scary,  the viewer is warned something bad is going to happen as soon as the creepy and scary music come up. However, in the real world, there is no warning, no pre determined visual, or creepy music to warn us. In most cases, temptation takes over, and the go getter, the goal setter falls off.  No one enjoys torturing themselves into believing that they will stop smoking, losing weight, etc only to come up short.

So there has to be a way, to ensure that when you say you’re going to lose weight, you will actually lose weight. Not only will you lose the weight you desire, but keep it off. I am about to reveal the secret to you, and as I do, I imagine there are some readers who may scowl or quickly dismiss the idea due to their own inability to believe and confirm with facts. So, let’s start with the most basic question, “how do you lose weight the natural and easy way? The answer may surprise you.

Self hypnosis.

This article is not intended to argue and debate the question “does it work” Of course it works, however one must try and keep an open mind. Instead this article will serve as a primary source to start you on your journey into weight loss thru  self hypnosis.  For those who don’t believe, may I recommend the appetite suppressants at your local stores that could range in price from $15.00 and up month after month.

The very first time I tried to lose weight thru self hypnosis, I lost 29 lbs in two months. In my first week alone I lost close to six pounds. In the next week slightly less and then of course my body adjusted and the total weight seems to just drop naturally.  One can make it sound it difficult to be put into a light hypnotic trance, but I am here to tell you different, if you can tie a shoe, or clean an ear of corn, you can put yourself into a hypnotic trance.

 Let’s begin.

1)      Find a comfortable place where you won’t be disturbed, turn off any electronic device that may awaken you, no TV, no landline phones, nothing. Some prefer using something melodic on CD, I say no, not until you master the art of putting yourself into a light trance.

2)      Loosen all tight clothes, especially around the waist, if necessary; go to the bathroom before you start. After your done in the bathroom, make it a point for some alone time, you’ll need at least a half hour of being undisturbed time when you put yourself into a light trance. Surprisingly, many people do this before drifting off to sleep due to a hectic lifestyle, and right before bedtime is fine.

3)      Lie on your back, or be comfortably reclined with your feet flat on the ground. Do not let your hands  touch each other.

4)      Relax and close your eyes. Breathe thru your mouth, and exhale your breathe thru your mouth, breathe deeply to clear your lungs and relax every fiber in your body. From the top of your head to the tips of your toes, just breathe and relax.

5)      Picture yourself on top of a stair case with at least ten steps below you . Hold onto the banister and step off onto the first step and say to yourself. “With each step I take, I drop down deeper and deeper, and the deeper I go the better I will feel.”

6)      Begin your descend down the stair saying the same thing, step after step.

7)      After reaching the final step and stepping on the landing, tell yourself. “I am completely relaxed and in a light hypnotic sleep. “

8)      Now see yourself in the mirror, see yourself thin and healthy, and love the way you look, look at your arms, look at your stomach and how thin it is, your hips . Admire and enjoy yourself. Now tell yourself something similar, “ I am now losing weight and love the way I look, I am dropping weight every week, every month, I love the way the new me looks,  I am very successful in loosing weight.”

9)      After you have completed that scenario, image the new you doing the things you love doing thin and skinny, see your self dancing, or skiing, shopping. See this in your minds eye and accept it as the new you. Tell yourself, “This is the new me, this is how I am going to look.”

10)   When finished, picture yourself at the bottom of a flight of stairs with 5 steps going up. Tell your self “ As I begin climb these steps, I will lift my self out of a hypnotic sleep and return back to a normal waking state. I will be fully awake and completely relaxed. “ (If this is right before bedtime, then say this) “ 1 feeling refresh and fine, 2 awakening little by little from my hypnotic sleep, 3 feeling great and beginning to stir, 4 completely aware of everything around me, 5 wide awake and feeling great

How can you lose weight or gain weight with hypnosis? Is hypnotism dangerous? Does hypnotism really works? What is hypnotism really like?

If you are reading this article, then you will probably have given some thoughts to the questions in the preceding paragraph. Hypnotism therapy not only can help you lose or gain weight, it can help you to achieve many other benefits such as quitting smoking, develop good health habits, develop positive thinking, develop good money habits, eliminating bad habits and many other positive benefits.

Firstly, before you read on, let’s clear up some myths and unfounded fears about subjecting oneself to hypnosis therapy.

Most people have irrational fears about being a subject of hypnotism. This is understandable because of the natural fear of the unknown and besides, these irrational fears are further reinforced into people’s mind by Hollywood movies and TV cartoons showing evil hypnotists putting the heroes into a zombie like state and under the full control of the evil hypnotist. This is not only nonsensical, it is also impossible.

So how does hypnotism work? You see, in our consciousness, we act through our conscious and subconscious mind. Our conscious mind make decisions based on the knowledge and past experiences stored in the huge data base in the sub-conscious or the unconscious mind.

As an example, supposing when you were very young and impressionable, some adult whom you respected told you that rich people are jerks. This information will be stored in your sub-conscious mind and although you may not be aware of it, every time when you see some rich people, your internal self chatter will most likely say that they probably accumulated their wealth by cheating others or by things that jerks do.

Since you do not want to be a jerk, your conscious mind will not think of ways to be rich. It will only think of having just enough to get by and guess what, you will have enough to get by because you are doing things to achieve that, but you will never be rich because you are not doing anything to be rich. Make sense?

Past experiences stored in the sub-conscious mind may be correct information at that time because at that time, as in the case above, that adult may only be referring to a particular rich person who was a real jerk. However, events and situations may have changed to render that bit of information irrelevant or even limiting what you can do or achieve, like losing weight or gaining weight.

Let us look at another example. If your family members and you are overweight and since young, you have heard your parents grumbled on many occasions that no matter what they do, they just can’t seem to lose that extra weight and that being fat must be a genetic condition.

These comments were then embedded into your unconscious mind and today, if someone were to ask you to lose weight, your unconcious will instinctively react by telling youself that losing weight is not possible because you are genetically programed to be obese and that no matter what you do, it will be difficult for you to lose weight effectively.

Of course you will not lose weight with that mind set because you will think that your weight loss effort will be a lost cause and therefore will not even lift a finger to lose weight or after a half hearted attempt, you give up. So, your limiting belief is sabotaging your weight loss effort.

This same analogy can also be applied to people who are skinny and who want to gain weight. There are many other situations that hypnosis can help because of limiting beliefs such as “I can never be rich because I do not have a college degree” or “It is hard for me to attract a lover because I am ugly”.

Most of the time, people are not even aware that they are sabotaging themselves with their own limiting beliefs. This is where hypnotism comes in.

When you are in a hypnotic state, you are actually in a very relaxed frame of mind. Unlike popular beliefs, you are still conscious of what is going on, fully in control of your self and you can get up and walk away immediately if you choose to. You will never be in controlled by your hypnotist like those depicted in cartoons and comic books.

You are put into a very relaxed state, so that your conscious mind is not so active and your hypnotist can suggest new positive messages into your subconscious mind. That means that your therapist will help you to erase those negative limiting beliefs from your sub-conscious mind and suggest new positive beliefs into it like, it is possible for you to lose or gain weight and motivate you to do something about your weight or other problems such as quitting smoking.

Now that you are convinced that hypnosis is a valuable tool to improve and enhance your life, there is still a problem. It can get pretty expensive because one session with a hypnotist is usually not enough to erase the limiting beliefs which you have thought to be true for so many years.

Furthermore, there probably are more than one such beliefs and your therapist will have to find them, eradicate them and the replace them with new positive beliefs. Now hypnotists charge their fees by the hour and this can make a big dent on your budget.

The good news is that the overwhelming costs can be offset by performing self hypnosis. No, you need not be an expert to perform self hypnotism. Can a person lose 70 pounds really fast using hypnosis?

I was asked this question from a high school student looking to lose weight for an upcoming cheerleader tryout. The tryout was in a couple of weeks. There are some very powerful responses that are available using hypnosis but there are physical and health issues at risk when looking to lose weight rapidly.

70 pounds is a significant amount of weight to lose, and unfortunately doing anything drastic to lose that amount of weight rapidly will result in horrible health consequences, as well as creating a problem with how you look due to sagging skin. So first off you need to know that a sensible consistent program for weight loss and weight management will be your best solution. This will probably not enable you to take off a significant amount of weight by Monday, but you will be on your way to getting to your proper weight so by this time next year you will not be in this situation.

What You Need To Know

With that said, your best procedure is to first identify what are your current behaviors that are causing you to gain that much weight in the first place. Are you eating too much? Are you eating the wrong foods, are you eating at the wrong places? Are you taking in more calories than you are burning? These are the first questions you need to ask so that you can establish a program to get you back into shape and start living the life that will make you happy and healthy.

Here are some tips to use in answer to some of those questions.

Eating Too Much

If you are eating too much then 30 minutes before each meal, drink a glass of water. This will help hydrate you and will satisfy any thirst that might have been misinterpreted as hunger. This also does fill you up a little so that you will be able to control any desire to overeat when you do sit down to a meal.

Eating The Wrong Foods

If you are eating the wrong foods, then plan a menu that is healthier. Start by eating more fresh foods, like fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. Choose healthier proteins. Stay away from processed foods, and fried foods.

Eating In The Wrong Places

If you are eating in the wrong places, set yourself some boundaries. Make a pact with yourself that you will not eat unless you are sitting down at a table that is designated as an eating place. This could be your kitchen table, dining room table, the cafeteria table. Think about how this will eliminate a lot of the snacking that you have been doing mindlessly in front of the tv or the computer, or even walking around.

Are You Really Overweight?

Find out if you are really overweight or not. Just because you want to be at a certain weight, doesn’t necessarily mean that you are overweight. A good place to find out if your body mass index is correct for you. Do a search on the internet for a BMI calculator and check out your own body mass index so you can monitor it to find out when you are in the normal range.

You can use self hypnosis to start getting your mind and emotions on track with your conscious desire to lose weight. These are simple yet powerful techniques meant to be used to reset the programming of our birth. To eat the right amount of food for nourishment. To stop using food as a means of comfort and distraction. With self hypnosis you can put yourself back on track.
